Big problem with 37" 1080p westinghouse lcd

So we were watching tv the other day and we started noticing that it looked like the tv was displaying in 256k colors or something. As soon as we noticed we could see it all the time. When you get close you can see a lot of green in the picture. We were using the YPbPr cables then tried s video and now dvi. Tried all that with a dvd player, and a cablebox (both regular tv and HDtv). We are still getting it. Below are pictures of what it looks like.

This is a close up of what we are seeing.

Remember this is with dvi. If you look at the gradient in the background it is like it is between 256k and 16bit colors instead of 32 or something

No we dont like charmed. It was the first black screen we could get

Notice the face and neck especially. This 1080i HDTV mind you.

Will post shortly. Image shack is being stupid.
Is there a return to default setting for your TV? Can you hook a computer to it to see if it still does it?

Hmm, not sure what you're talking about, but try resetting the tv to factory defaults for all the picture controls.

Will check back once the pics are up though.

oh for sure i reset all the settings. First I tried just resetting the video settings then tried returning the entire monitor back to factory settings. Still. When we had dvi hooked up it was worse (I think because it is better quality).

edit: can someone give me another site to host my images?

Sorry to hear about your problem bro. My 37" Westy is performing perfectly, no problems here. You have a 1 yr warranty with Westinghouse on your TV. I purchased the 3yr warranty thru newegg just incase it develops problems like yours. If I were you I would contact Westinghouse and get it fixed or replaced.

i poked around and am now using cyro-laboratory.com. Figured it would be good because it is unknown (less traffic to the servers, which i think was the problem i was having with image shack.

As soon as i get home from class I will be able to get the photos from my main rig (really should get ftp server going on it again....) and post them. Check back at around 2:45pm (central) today and they should be up in the first post.

Edit: posted. I really liked the option to have little thumbnails when i used image shack. Does photobucket have this ability? I hate the ridiculously large pix.

Edit: Ok I reduced the pixels. It was just bothering me too much. Though if it is too grainy for some just message me i will send the whole thing.

ok tried it with a computer and it still did it.

called westinghouse and they say it is the panel so I might have to RMA it. Sucks to ship something this heavy though.

I have not seen anything like this with my 37w3. Have you tried switching inputs? For example, if you're watching on DVI, switch to an unused input, then switch back.

Honestly, I don't think this is a color settings problem. It looks to be a processing problem or a connection issue. Is the display hot (not warm) to the touch?

display feels fine. The cable box was pretty hot though so I switched the inputs. I used YPbPr and dvi with cable box, svideo and component with dvd player, and dvi with my computer. Everything shows the same. I took a picture of my desktop. Wow. I should be able to post it and a normal pic of it tonight as long as i can find my camera charger....

I'm stumped. Since this is happening with all inputs, however, I'm thinking that the display is borked. I can't think of a setting which would contribute to the problem you're seeing.

Heh, I came across an LCD that had the same problem, it happend to be a simple case of borked firmware.

A simple flash and update fixed it.

Yeah, that does not look like an input problem, send it back and get another.

Is there a way I can do a flash to the firmware?

Nope. At this time, only Westinghouse can flash the firmware. Do you know what firmware your set has?

That's the firmware version, which is the latest. They went through a few revisions (1.4, 1.5, 1.6), then went to the most recent 1.0 (despite the lower numbering).

Call Westinghouse support. I've found them to be helpful if a little clueless.
