What do you guys think? Is there any benefit or side affect of lowering the 2D core speed of my 7900GS? I'm just curious, as I just tried out my card at a 2D speed of 5mhz :D I saw no difference or anything in performance, and was wondering if I should just leave it real low.

Would it consume less power? Alot less?
Could my core wear in at this low speed, reducing it's OCing ability?
Would I see any noticable difference in 2D apps?
Have any of you ever tried this?

Again, I'm just curious :) For now I'll leave the core at it's normal 2D speed, but, I'd like some answers if anybody has them :) Thanks

Ohh, I was just trying my core at 50mhz, and it switched itself into 3D mode at the full 745mhz :O Maybe it actually senses when its speed isn't enough? I always thought transition to 3D mode was application triggered.
