Hello everyone, I am currently building a c2d system and I'm waiting for the price cut. I want to have everything else planned out before I get the mobo and cpu that way I can fly through the installation. So what seems to be the hardest part for me is setting the power, hd, reset, sound, etc wires from the case.

SPECS-
COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW

GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 Rev. 3.3

Just look this over and make sure I'm doing this right. Also I'm going to have a few questions.

Here we go
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a picture from my mobo manual-

Questions-
Each twisted wire has a white wire in the combo(except the reset switch)- does the white wire represent the negative or the positive?
What does the +, - wire represent? and where does it go on the mobo?
Since the reset switch does not have a white wire does it matter which way its facing since I don't know what the positive or negative side is?

This is a picture of wiring for the front of the case- hd, power, etc

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pictures of mobo plugins for front usb and firewire-

Questions-
Is that speaker cable supposed to go with power, reset..etc?
Where does that HD AUDIO go?
For the front USB which one of the three should I stick it in? the one to the right?
Same for the firewire which one of the two should I plug in first?

Here is a picture of front usb, front firewire, etc..

----------------------------------------------------------------------
This stuff was branching off from the HD AUDIO

What is this junk and do I need to mess with it?

Thanks for any help and/or information you guys can share.

for the power/reset plugs the colored wire is the positive wire, but you need to make note of what pin on the mobo is the postive pin.

all the usb/firewire is easy to install. you dont have to worry anymore about finding each pin to plug in like i had to do many time. they use a standard connector, just match up the connector to the way the pins are on the mobo... ie like one pin is missing in the connect and on the pin header. i wouldnt worry about the front audio headers on the case unless you really need them. you will have to read the names on the cables and match them up to the names in the manual.

Thanks for the info on the positive wire- Shouldnt be to hard to hook that up now.

The USB and FireWire seem pretty easy as well but my only question about those are there are three connections on the mobo for front usb- which should I start with? Same with the firewire except for 2
connections on the mobo.

EDIT// where do the +,- wires plug in?

which +,- wires? if you mean the switch / power you need to look at the mobo and find the + next to the pin... it will be + next to the first postive power pin and then all + pins are on that same line.

well i dunnot what those other 2 seperated wires are for... where do they follow back to on the case a LED or what?

With the switch plugs, it doesn't matter which way you put it, either will work.

With the LEDs, they only one way will work, but the wrong way will not hurt them. Test them one way, if they don't work, flip them.

Speaker connector orientation also doesn't matter.

It won't matter which pins you put the usb/firewire on, as long as that it's the right connector.

No idea about HD audio though.

thanks everyone, if you guys have any other suggestions just post.

Does the case have any lights besides the power/hdd activity LED's in the front? If you don't know, take the front off of the case and follow the wires back to what they go to. I'm fairly confident that those are for LED's on the front of the case.

EDIT: I just built someone a computer with that exact case, I don't remember those being there, I'll see if I can get ahold of them...

ok so I followed the wires up and -
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g200/bilalq908/coolermaster wiring/100_0858.jpg

the green and white one that is labelled(+,-) is connected to an led that shows a sun looking thing (which I'm assuming is the power led)

The orange and white wire goes to another led that shows a can looking thing - hard drive symbol.

So it looks like I will plug the green and white one to the top left pins in this pic.

My new question is if I plug in the speaker plug and not the HD AUDIO will I still be able to use the Microphone port in the front?

ok now go with the manual and any colored wire is the postive wire for the led/switches. no no your reading that wrong... that speaker connector is for the small speaker used for beep codes that has nothing to do with the onboard audio chip. as long as you have pin headers from the onboard audio on the mobob. you can use the front jacks on the case and you have no problems.

The speaker plug is for the system speaker, the one that beeps at you when booting up, or beeps at you when your screen is frozen and you start hitting buttons on the keyboard, etc. . . It just beeps. It doesnt have anything to do with the headphone/mic ports on the front of the case. I personally didnt connect my front audio headphone/mic ports when I built my computer, because I didnt want to route the cables all the way to the rear of the case, plus my soundcard came with a front bay anyways (Soundblaster x-fi platinum). Its up to you whether or not you want to connect the HD Audio. Your computer will run fine without it plugged up, and if you have no plans of connecting headphones/mic into the front of your case, you might just skip it altogether.
