Sorry, n00b question, but I'd rather confirm this first rather than mess up and lose all my data.

I have 2 computers, both with S-ATA hard disks. If I remove the hard drive from one machine and put it in the other computer, the data will be accessible, right? I know this can be done with IDE, but I'm fairly new to S-ATA, and wanted to make sure that it will work the same.

Yes, it should be the same as IDE. Just make sure upon booting, check the bios if the new added drive is recognized, then you all set.
 
Assuming you're running an NT-based OS like XP or W2K, you may run into permissions problems when trying to access the data on the newly installed HDD. If that's the case, then you may want to check out this MSKB article...
