WOW, killer prices. Why do I have to bee poor in these times C2D's are getting cheap, RAM is dirt cheap. *sigh*

Also it's good to point out that a laptop user could have 2GB of RAM for only $110!

Being a former laptop owner I felt obligated to point that out

The OCZ is actually cheaper than is listed in the newegg newsletter. In the newsletter, the rebate shows as $35. If you click on the memory though, you see that it is in actuallity a $50 rebate, bringing the grand total to a mere $104!!

EDIT... got to the checkout but now the promo code won't work

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231114

it's supposed to be 159.99 with $15 off, but it shows up as $149.99 on the site

absolutely absurd that its all ddr2. Do they actually think everyone upgrades constantly? This rig is only a little over a year old.

I literally cannot find 2 more matching 512mb sticks of my OCZ gold ddr memory and if I ever do Ill pay the amount it would cost for a 2x1mb dual channel ddr2 kit.

Ram seems to be the only thing in the world where its cheaper for newer versions.

yeah, these sticks seem to surpass ddr2-1000 speeds easily.. and for $104 AR they are, in my opinion, the best deal in ram right now

Can you confirm that? I only caught one Newegg review saying that after skimming a few pages. If this is true.... (I'm getting this for my friend in a week or two though so I will find out for myself soon enough)

well two reviews on newegg reported results over 1000mhz.. take that for whatever it's worth

and here's one review translated from spanish reporting 950-1000mhz results
http://translate.google.com/translat...3DN%26pwst%3D1

i personally have the "gold" ddr2-1100 version ($195 AR at the moment, and intended to run at 2.3v). I wouldn't be surprised if these platinum sticks are very similar with just different stock settings

Wow I hope my friend's sticks are this good. Just have to have some luck on our side I would guess. These reviews and translations of reviews make me a very very excited builder.

I bought an OCZ stick a few months back and it ended up not being compatible with my mothermoard (Asus P5B). Just a heads up... that's why I'm getting the g.skill ram instead. I'd rather spend $30 more and get something I know I won't have any issues with.

these ram prices on ddr2 800 stuff is just unreal!!!!!!

i'm actually thinking of buying and holding... cuz remember last yr when ddr prices dropped, and then went up like 40-50%?

like last year (or so) DDR for 1gb kit dropped to like $60 or so at newegg, zipzoomfly, etc... then i think it was maybe over the summer, they were hitting $100-110 for a 1gig kit...

think this'll happen to ddr2??

You do remember what I'm talking about DDR, right? I calculated roughly a 50% jump in pricing from year low to year high!!! Cuz I remember I was buying 512 pc2700 stix for 20-25, and then months later I was selling them for 45ea. when I didn't need 'em...

2 1/2 months ago I spent $250 on 1000 Mhz teamgroup RAM. Now I could get 1000Mhz capable RAM for half that price. (though probably at higher timings, but still that extra moolah could have bought me a better vid card!)
