Walmart is holding wii's in the back!

I used to work at a local walmart, and i was in there earlier today, talking to a lady about Wii's.

she told me that they have a small stock of them sitting in the back, that they won't release untill their Ad's come out. Basically, those multi-page walmart advertisements that you see once in a while, showing their newest sales.

AND this isn't just one store, its pretty much most of them, as this is a direct order from the home office, NOT the decision of the manager of the store.

i know she was telling the truth, because i have worked with her in the past, i always talk to her, and she has seen them locked up in the cage for the past few days or so.

i REALLY hate that place. By the time anyone actually GETS the add, those wii's will have already been sold within an hour of them putting them on the shelves ( at midnight, when their sales start ). just a cheap way of getting customers into the store, hopes that while they are there, they will buy other things.

so god only knows how many wii's are being held up in the backs of all these stores.

and rainless, i know you will come in and blame it all on nintendo, about how they have a secret stash of wii's...which i wouldn't doubt, but you can't fully blame nintendo when the wii's they DO release get hoarded by stores, so they can trick people to walking into the doors.

Just figured you guys would like to know, and thought that some of you guys could go to your local walmarts, and ask if they have any in the back room, just waiting for the ad's to be released. cause i wonder how widespread this is, or if its more of a area specific thing.

This isn't really all that strange. Lots of stores hold stock for a flyer drop, and it's not just Wiis they're holding. The Wii just happens to be the popular thing at the moment, so they hold them to drive sales. Best Buy, Circuit City, Target and Wal-Mart are all guilty of this type of practice.

the kmart that is along the drive from home to work does somethign similar, but they only hold them in the back if a customer requests it... and they'll hold it for a week. I went in with my wife last week, and saw them putting a wii on the shelf... asked them if it was a fresh shipment, they said "Nope, the guy that asked us to hold this never came in". So i told them "I'll take it. Now. I said NOW!"
