video card for HTPC

Looking for a reccomended video card for a 27" CRT for my bedroom
(yes, its for my bedroom) lol

It has every connection except HDMI/HDTV

What video card would be best for this htpc? My reciever upconverts all video to Component so the output on the video card I could really use anything?
What do you think?

Unless its HD capable, anything more than S-Video is overkill. Otherwise, VGA, DVI, or Component would do fine.

What you're planning on doing with the card defines which one you get. Gaming? HD/Blu-Ray?

Yeah, this depends heavily on weather or not you have an hdtv.

Exactly.

If you're planning on doing BluRay or HD-DVD, I'd suggest an 8600 card, or waiting for ATI's upcoming lower end offerings.

Otherwise, an x1600 card will do the job, or 7600 if you prefer NVidia.

Just ensure the card has TV-out with whatever inputs you need.

Thanks for the replies everyone, In one of my computers I have the1800XL which I had planned on upgrading anyways. It is a ATI made X1800XL, the images of this video card show it has a Rage theater chip on it. Would this video card be a good choice? As then I could use it and just upgrade video card on my spare gaming machine?

In that case, the card you have (x1800) will do just fine. Overkill, in fact.

I use an x1300 to watch TV on my 27" non-HDTV and it works great. The best part about it is 0 noise since it is fanless. I used to use a Geforce 4400Ti and that worked fine too.
