WPA2 with Belkin F5D7010 v3

First off I am trying to install this card on a sony vaio laptop with XP Pro w/SP2. The card is a Belkin F5D7010 v3. The card uses the Ralink 2500 chipset and is a PCMIA card.

I am having the hardest time getting this card to work with WPA2. I have installed the MS hotfixes (KB917021-v3-x86 and KB893357-v2-x86). I installed the KB917021 hotfix first and then installed the other one to see if it would get WPA2 to work, which it obviously didn't.

I've installed the belkin drivers but they only let me configure WPA1. I also copied the .inf/.sys files and uninstalled the belkin wireless client and manually installed the drivers to see if the belkin client was the problem. I think the drivers i am using are out of date but they are the only drivers on the Belkin website (for my version). I also tried to find the Ralink drivers but have only found ones that support linux.

I am fairly certain this card is compatible with WPA2 but am not sure. I have another PCI card that uses the Ralink 2500 chipset and it works just fine. Has anyone else gotten this card to work with WPA2 or knows of newer drivers for this card?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

haha Belkin you lose...

well i couldn't find any newer drivers because belkin is too lazy to make them so i downloaded some Ralink ones that are not compatible with the belkin card until you change some entries in the inf file.

If anyone else is having the same problems i can send you the .inf file

Same issue here...

I have the same issue here and not a clue what I need to update in the Ralink 2500 inf file, if you have done the hard work already can you post that file, that will save me plenty of time doing research on the matter.
Thanks

I did what "the adam" suggested and it worked for me (I'm posting this from my Belkin F5D7010 v3000 using WPA2). Here's what I did:
  1. I installed the regular Belkin drivers for the revision of my card.
  2. In the C:\Program Files\Belkin 802.11g Wireless Card Configuration Utility\Driver directory, there was a Rt2500.inf file. I saved a copy of this file away for safe keeping (and later comparison), and I also saved away these lines from the file:

    [Belkin]
    ; DisplayName Section DeviceID
    ; ----------- ------- --------
    %Belkin.DeviceDesc% = BELKIN.ndi, PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_0201&SUBSYS_701A1799
    %Belkin.DeviceDesc% = BELKIN.ndi, PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_0201&SUBSYS_700A1799
  3. I uninstalled the Belkin drivers.
  4. I installed the Ralink RT2500 drivers (from their web site).
  5. I edited this INF file: C:\Program Files\RALINK\RT6x Wireless LAN Card\Driver\Rt2500.INF. What I did was paste in the special lines above (with the DeviceIDs), then I searched for "CNet" in the file and duplicated those lines, making similar lines with "Belkin" instead of "CNet".
  6. In the end, I ended up with the file attached to this post. (Rename it to Rt2500.INF and replace the existing file in the Driver directory mentioned above)
  7. I inserted the PC Card and when Windows prompted, I pointed it toward the edited INF file (using the Have Disk button), then I eventually selected the Belkin configuration that I just created.
Thanks and good luck.
