I just used nlite myself...seems like a good program...I just used it to slipstream the SATA drivers from my mobo disk onto a previously slipsteamed version that included SP2...but all this would seem to do would eliminate the F6 option
Now make an nLite install disk, and integrate the RyanVM Update Pack (2.1.9 is most current IIRC). You will be 95% up-to-date the instant your XP install finishes - a nice sense of security. You can also integrate DX9 and WMP10 right onto the Install CD. This saves time, and also saves a few pointless reboots if you install this stuff after a "Normal" XP Install...
I think integrating Video drivers is possible, but I don't have a clue how to do it. I know you can add "Run Once" commands to the Install disk, but that is not much different than running the Video Driver Installer yourself from within XP IMO.
Once the XP Install is done, I run Autopatcher (still waiting for the new build
), and get the remaining few updates there, as well as IE7, WMP11 (if I decide to replace WMP10), NET Framework 1.1, 2, and 3, and some other cool tweaks and add-ons.
Between nLite+RyanVM and Autopatcher, XP re-installations are much faster and less cumbersome IMO. But it is never as easy as restoring an image of the OS exactly how you like it (w/activation and all). That only takes like 15 minutes for a totally "Fresh" install!!!
