Well, how on earth do you all pay for your hobby and what's your computer/mod rate.

I pay for my parts by selling Art, doing graphics jobs and scavenging. I make a computer...once a month out of whatever I can scavenge. Usually old computers are cannibalized into the new ones. I only have one "good" computer. (sig)

what about you?

For a while I was buying stuff from eBay from certain foreign countries where it sold particularly cheaply and selling it in the UK. If you bought the right items (high end CPUs and RAM), the price difference was so great that you can make significant profit, even after shipping.

I am quite an avid book collector and frequently trawl second hand book sales, I make some money selling online.

The other thing I sometimes try is to buy items cheaply and then mod them so when I sell them the price is still high. This mainly applies to consoles for me, but I bought a bad condition xbox one a while ago for £10 and now I'm done with it because I refurbed and softmodded it, it should eBay for about £30. Same goes for my PSP, the softmod and some emulator software makes it worth second hand about £100, what I paid for it new.

What do you mean by soft moding your psp would you be able to tell me how you did it? I would love to play pokemon on the psp instead of buyimng a new ds for perl and silver.

I don't fund my computer addiction by having more important things to spend money on.

Before I couldn't imagine using hardware that wasn't still brand new. Now my system is still very good for my needs, yet hasn't changed much in almost 2 years. I only wish I could have done this back when I first got into computers. What a waste of money.

I saved a long time to get my rig, I always try to find a way to make money, e.g. friend is quitting WoW and I wanted to sell the priest, I get 10%. (Anyone want a level 60 undead priest? )I have always been money conscious and this is my second major purchase besides my PS3, which is just sitting there folding :[

It was a shock to me at first, but then I got used to actually having money and not paying for gas in quarters. Now I actually...kinda...like it...

Well, I used to just save 20-50 bucks a week and then go out and buy new motherboards, cases, fans, cpus, drives, memory and video cards but then I realized just how much it was costing me and quit buying stuff for a year or two and went out and bought a MAC. I don't think I'll be upgrading anything for quite a while now

I try not to buy things when they first come out . I let the prices drop and pick out a sweet overclocking system so I get more bang for my buck .

Sell drugs, lots of them. Seriously though, I just work. Seems the average age of this site is pretty young.
