Video Card Rankings

Anyone want to take a stab at ranking Video Cards at this time? Say a top 10 or top 20. I think a top 10 budget and a top 10 high end would cover a lot questions made on this site. Also it would help me a lot.

That's a copy & paste from Tom's Hardware and shows the relative power of various cards. They are all ranked in order by tiers. Maybe for the June charts they will add the new r600 based ones.

Note that to see the Radeon's you have to scroll the code window over to the right.

Thanks I've been to that site on mostly google searches without lurking around so maybe I should next time. Anyway I didn't realize my X800GTO2 overclocked to X850XT PE levels (I believe to be anyway) would be that high on the list because it seems as though my friends 7900GT and 7800GTX blows mine away.

Also was wondering if that list was combined ranking NVIDIA and ATI where everything would stand?

It really depends on the game. I play a lot of Oblivion and found that going from a 7800gs to an x800GTO² (unlocked to 16 pipes & OC'd to XT PE speed) was an upgrade. But in other games, notably Quake4, the 7800gs was faster. So I'd say the ranking is roughly correct, give or take those two cards are pretty even and they're on the same tier.

In your case, your friends' 7900GT and 7800GTX are on the same tier, two to three tiers above yours. So they should perform better all around, more so in some games than in others.

-edit
And the list is combined, sort of. It has the ATI and nVidia cards segregated, but they are organized into tiers where one side roughly equals the other. As of the ranking ATI had nothing to compare to the 7950 GX2 and above, which is why ATI's top card is in the fourth tier from the top.

You could just use the vga charts from toms:
