MSI P6N SLI-FI - new build will power but no POST - HELP!!

Hi,

Here's what I have:

MSI P6N SLI-FI
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420
2x1GB G.Skill DDR2 800
Maxtor 250GB
Antec Earthwatts 500W PSU
-- NO VGA CARD -- It's in shipment. I'm just listening for POST codes to make sure the machine boots up okay.

It powers for a second, but there is no beep and the diagnostic LEDs do not light up. Then, it powers down.

I've done some testing to see if I could narrow down the problem. I unplugged the USB ports from the backplate, all SATA drives, system fan, front audio connectors to narrow down the problem. Finally, I tried putting in a graphics card to see if the lack of one might be the problem. It's a MSI NX8500GT.

After all that, still the same problem. I would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance,
Kathryn

lack of graphics card = problem

put it all back together with the graphics card this time and connect a monitor, keyboard and mouse. make sure everything is connected properly aswel (reset and power pins etc.)

I think that is how she knows it doesn't post.

The others might be right though, maybe because no video card it present. I think depending on the motherboard you should get a beep code when it tried to initialize the video card.

Are the Diagnostic LED's supposed to indicate the phase of bootup like the DFI Ultra-D's?

When you put in that graphic card, did you have it connected to a monitor? Also, when I tried that board the orange ram slots did not work. Try only one stick and move it to the different slots.
