You have to have decent credit to do this but how I got mine really high is by buying things on credit cards with 0% introductory rates and paying it of slowly but before I had to start paying interest. I have pretty much purchased all of my computers throughout the years this way. You have do be diligent though and pay it off before the 0% is up.

Jesus that's crazy, I've never heard of a car loan with that high of an apr. Then again I guess no one would be bragging about it...

Here's the deal: Find a credit card that doesn't charge fees(I'm surprised you haven't started getting offers in the mail yet! I got one the week after I turned 18!) then pay it off monthly. I don't even know my CC's APR.

Wanna know why? Because I don't pay interest. I pay it off monthly (Or generally, every other week) Haven't paid a dime in interest. Built enough of a credit history to buy a house(Bought house late february, turned 18 in July)

Don't believe the hype of getting a credit card and carrying a balance. Carrying a balance is like paying to get a credit score, all they care about is A) Did you make a payment? and B) Was it above the minimum?

But don't take my word for it, check out FICO's actual statement: http://www.myfico.com/CreditEducatio...YourScore.aspx

http://www.creditcards.com/ has a great searchable database, including student cards, fee free cards, 0% intro APR cards, etc. Poke around on it, great stuff.

I'm still 18, and looking at having an excellent credit score by the time I'm 20 .

thanks man. I might actually look at getting a card to buy my new computer. Thanks for that awesome site

Looking at the site, I think the
http://www.creditcards.com/credit-ca...udent-card.php

should be a good student card. Im going to apply for it, move 600$ into one of my ing accounts and pay it off 100$ a month via automatic deposit into checking

Thanks everyone I would still like to get a store line of credit, havent decided on one yet tho. And at 5% cash back for the 6 months, I can get around 30-60 back back total

Remember, they don't care if you pay it all off monthly. They just care that you have a balance at the end of the month. I.E. i have a $150 balance at the end of the month, and then I pay it off. The credit reporting Bereaue gets a notification that my line of credit has $x in it, then they get a report saying that my line of credit had a payment made on it. Nothing else is told to them.

I would suggest using the card as your regular buying crap card. That's what I use mine for, I buy gas, food, everything on my credit card and pay it off at the end of the month (Or if I approach the limit, a little earlier)

I have two cards, one I have all my bills coming out on (~$250-300 per month) which gives me a balance on the account, and then I pay it off. Boom.

So, here's the plan

1) Get a card
2) Use it. Don't do a balance transfer, just use it for your purchases, etc.
3) Pay it off monthly.

The biggest and most important thing is you treat it just like a debit card. If you don't have the cash, don't spend it. Otherwise you're going to start having to pay interest, which hoses you very muchly.

hit me up on AIM if you wanna jibba jabba in real time.

Wish it was a true cash back card @ 1% cash back, but it works .

Should look into the Citi MTVu card if you are a student. The best card I have. You get 5 thank you points for every dollar spend at restaurants, books stores (amazon works most the time), and somewhere else. I have another card I use at grocery stores and gas stations that get me 3 points per dollar. PM me if you want a direct link.

Edit: Just want to make sure you guys know, this is a good card for the points but the APR is not pretty so don't carry a balance.
