What [American] Accent do you have?

Take the quiz

I don't normally post things like this, but I really liked this quiz. Take it, and let us know if it managed to nail yours.

Funny, there's a clip on YouTube on the Ottawa accent (I didn't know Ottawans had an accent! I suppose we're merged in with Toronto as well.)

Canadian
People from outside North America probably think you're from the States, but over here we wouldn't make such a mistake.
I noticed, however, that if I change just one answer (#13: Change PASTA from "like CAT" to "like FATHER"), it gives me a "Midlands" accent.

Northern

You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for.

btw i am a persian guy living in the netherlands, that thing is way off

I apparently have a midlands accent but I think just about everyone in the northwest US does also.

As I live in Chicago, guess they're pretty spot-on...except that my accent changes depending upon whom I am around at any given time

My Results:

Midland

("Midland" is not necessarily the same thing as "Midwest") The default, lowest-common-denominator American accent that newscasters try to imitate. Since it's a neutral accent, just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from the Midland.

I got midland myself and I know that that is not right because both of my parents are from Boston so that is how I speak. Apparently, midland is the default if it can't score you any other way.
