need SATA RAID PCI card

I need a reccomendation for a hardware RAID card, SATA flavour. I read somewhere that if one were to use PCI RAID instead of on board, the array could be moved between machines in case of machine failure. This will be a storage array, no OS.
If I'm incorrect, someone let me know.

I've got two 500g Samsungs I want to mirror as network back up. Am I on the right track?
