that is the boiling point of water and i would NOT run the computer until i figured out what was going on... stick a thermal probe and see what you get...

some dmm's have a thermometer feature on them so that may not be a problem

point a fan at the nb if you havent done so already. The 6xx chipsets are known for running really hot.

thats way too high, I'd never be comfortable with a NB going higher than 60C, although they can apparently take a lot of heat.

Figure out whats going wrong, if the heatsink is measuring 100C then at least you know you're getting good contact with the NB chip

check NB voltages in the BIOS, might have been set way above spec. If all else fails get some airflow on there with a 40mm fan or similar

That's quite hot, even for electronic components.

100C? I'm surprised it's still running.

The 600-series chipsets do run super-hot. Get a fan on that ASAP.

that is with a 250mm fan blowing air onto it directly from the side of the case.
i also took of the thermal pad thing and applied some AS ceramique but that is with it at 100*C and i do not know what it was like before.
i have a asetek WC loop on the cpu only at the moment, would it be worth adding the NB to it or just using a better air cooler with a fan?

My oral thermometer stopped at 42C, but it was rising at least 2C a second before it blanked out. I almost burned my self on it

I am getting fans though.

how recent is this? request a RMA for faulty board. Yes you know its a cooling problem, but at stock settings it should should not reset. or call up MSI For a rev.2 Got any 50MM fans laying around stick one on it. you would be surprised on how much heat a little thing can remove =P.

Get rid of it now. Tell your retailer (newegg for example) its a POS board and no matter how many RMA's i do its still gonna over heat, and i am not responsible for faulty design.
