Ive been running a duron 800 on my 8KHA+ for several weeks now.

Its totaly stable at 148X7 (1044mhz) at 1.8v
Temperature at load is 39*c with a taisol 760.

The problem is that i cant get the FSB any higher.

Ive tried reducing the memory timings and using the 3/4 memory devider in the new epox bios. So im sure my crucial 2100 can go faster.

Ive tried dropping the multiplyer down to 6X but that didnt help.

As soon as i try 149 in the bios it wont post at all.

Is this the limit for this type of chip ?

Or do I have another problem ?

Its not the PSU as i have a sparkle 400watt and all my voltages are withinn 0.5V

Whats the highest FSB anybody else has had a duron running at ?

Thanks for any help.

Well, lets remember that Duron starts at 100fsb, so that is pushing it quite a bit.

I say that is a very good overclock...

Its not so much that i want more of a overclock.
I only bought this CPU so that i could test my watercooling on it (i dont want to crush a £100 XP)

Im just worried that I have a bad motherboard that is a very poor FSB overclocker.

Its supprisingly nimble this duron.

I got over 7000 3dmarks with it

Ive tried all this stuff so i think ive ruled out everything but the motherboard and CPU

Im running

8KHA+
Duron 800
Elsa Geforce3 (also tried matrox g400)
IBM deskstar 45gb 75xgp
IBM 16gb (unknown model UDMA66)
Soundblaster live value
Generic PCI 56k modem
Matshi*ta SR 8583 DVD rom
2x256mb Crucial PC 2100
Sparkle 400watt PSU

Ive tried dropping the multiplyer to 6X
Ive tried getting it to post with only one stick of ram.
Ive tried unplugging the HDDs
Ive tried CPU voltages from 1.6v to 1.8v
Ive tried VDIMM from 2.6v to 3v
Ive tried with the slowest memory timings at 100mhz
Ive tried kicking it.
Ive tried unplugging all my PCI cards.
Ive tried a bigger fan on the CPU
Ive tried unplugging all the fans (except CPU fan)
Ive swapped the graphics card for a matrox.
Im not running any USB devices, ps2 mouse and keyboard.

None of the FETs or the voltage regulator on the board are warm.

Ive totaly run out of ideas.. something isnt right but ive no idea what.

Can anybody tell me something to try ?

Im getting scared that i have a bad board, however unlikely that seems.

Sorry aboutthe length i cut and posted from another forum.

All I can think off is try another CPU, that u know will reach 149FSB and up... Dunno what else to say..
