Open DNS ?

I was just reading a little on Open DNS....
(opendns.com)

I thought it sounded kind of interesting and maybe just a bit speedier.

Any thoughts from people here who are more knowledgable than I in this area?

Oh, FYI I use Qwest DSL 1200 DL 53kb UL. yeah, I know, it sux.
It isn't Horrible, but I know there is better.

I use it as well and it seems to do pretty well. No complaints here.

I recommend using the closest DNS server to you. It is likely faster (keyword= likely). I read that their sister company got DDoSed some time ago.

well no offense but i just pinged the primary and got,
183-55-82-15ms respectively, and with opendns i get 12-12-13-12ms respectively, nothing seems to be wrong with the servers u posted, just they don't seem to be as up to the task as the opendns servers are...

I use opendns because charter's get messed up for me now and then. There was a period of about a month where when I'd be using theirs and it'd just stop working for a few hours. I'd plop in the opendns servers and away I'd go down the interweb tubes. Eventually just left them in and it's been great to me.

I would not trust some random company with my DNS resolutions :/. But thats just me. I either use my own server or the ones on my ISP.

yep.

FWIW, you only go to DNS every once in a while depending on your usage habits and DNS caching...180msec is not all *that* bad.
