~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Again, Thanks for taking the time to allow me to interview you.
When did you join the Team? Approximate date is ok if you don't know the specific date.
Originally back in Oct 2005, but my old rig passed away in mid 2006. Then I started up again in March of '07 with my PS3
If there was something recent that you did that you wanted your fellow teammembers to know about, what would it be?
That I play trumpet and met my trumpet idol, Arturo Sandoval, after his concert. I gave him a cigar and he smoked it right on the spot and spoke to me for a long time. Now we keep in e-mail contact!
What is your EOC (extremeoverclockers) stats link?
EOC
You do not have to give specifics (address), but what State do you live in, and if you don't mind telling, what town? (town is not required, but if not a town, a general direction and distance from the nearest 'big town/city' would suffice)
Newport News, VA, since June of 1993
How did you initially hear about F@H?
Stumbled into OCForums while researching for a new computer build to play some newer games like HL2. Kept hearing about folding but didn't know what it was. Read a lot of posts by TollhouseFrank and Wedo and felt compelled to be a part of it. It's a wonderful cause and its "competitiveness" encourages rebuilding and duplicating rigs. Now I get components for folding and haven't played any games!
After starting, why do you continue to Fold?
Besides increasing my point production through improving my rigs, folding doesn't require much from me. The applications take care of themselves once they get going. I just monitor. Additionally, there's no reason to stop until a cure is found.
What do you do for a living?
I am an IT manager for a local government office, and I love what I do!
What do you do for fun?
My wife will tell you that I don't have fun because I'm always working on something. I spend as much time as I can with my kids. I'm an amateur photographer and avid wine drinker. I recently got my wife some golf clubs and she loves it, so we try to do that together every other week.
Is there anything special you do in your spare time that you really enjoy?
I get a great feeling being involved in my community. I'm vice president of my homeowner's association, task member on my city's 10 year planning committee, and treasurer of my PTA.
Time to spill your guts. What are the stats of your main folding rig? Why is it your fave? What all do you use the rig for?
P4 640 Intel CPU @ 3.6 GHz
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro HSF
ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
2x1GB Crucial Ballistix PC6400 DDR2 800MHz 4-4-4-12
2x1GB OCZ ATI Crossfire PC6400 DDR2 800MHz (to be installed)
HIS Radeon X1950 Pro IceQ3 Turbo (2 of them for Crossfire)
2 IDE Western Digital 80GB drives in RAID 1 (pictures and music)
1 SATA Western Digital 80 GB drive (apps and games)
Do you have a Borg-Farm? If so, how many computers, and what are they? (CPU, RAM)
It's a small farm of low-usage computers. There's 13 of them. For the most part they are all Pentium 4 6xx series machines with 512MB of RAM.
But, the laptop is beating up on everything else with it's dual-core goodness! It's a T7400 @ 2.16 GHz with 1GB of RAM. It's making my home rig jealous... until I get the quad core Q6600 (which I am just too excited about. Hurry up July 22!)
What are your future goals? What do you most want to accomplish with your life?
I want to continue working hard and being a leader in my community. I also want to continue being a good role model for my boys. Hopefully I'll leave a good legacy through them.
If there is something you want to tell the team, then spill your guts! What have I missed in my questions that could help the team learn more about you and who you are?
I think this forum is great for any computer user who has ever thought of touching the inside of their machine. I especially enjoy the discussions that are much more toned down than other sites. Furthermore, you guys do a great job of making people feel welcome. This "spotlight" is a perfect example of that!
As for me, I have a Flickr site where anyone is welcome to see a photo "diary" of my activites.
Just one question? What kind of stogie did you give out, and if you have any more kids can we expect to get one?
It's always nice to meet a fellow folder and trumpet player.
Alright, so I quit playing cornet after I graduated from college. I've regretted it ever since.
Great to meet you GT!
And it's always nice to meet a fellow musician... percussion is my forte. Maybe we can get together a T32 jazz ensemble.
Glad to meet you GT
I used to be stationed at Ft Eustis, so I'm familiar with the surroundings, although that was many moons ago.
Thanks Everyone!
I completely missed this yesterday! I was golfing (go figure), attended a festival, and hung out with some friends. So I spent no time in front of a computer!
To dfonda: Always glad to be a member here. I truly enjoy the camaraderie on this team. The stogie was a Macanudo. I have a couple more, but no plans for any more kids. I had my valve shut down
Hack30: Thanks for the warm comments. I will fold until I can't folds no more!
CJ-5: A pleasure to meet you as well. It's never too late to pick the horn up again. There are some great players out there who hadn't ever picked up the horn until their mid-30's. If they can do, you can too.
pscout (aka, folding god): Great to formally meet you as well pscout! I, too, am counting down until the July price drop. I'm getting kind of giddy about it. More so than my family getting the last Harry Potter book, even.
A new T32 tune, huh. Hmm, I may have to come up with something.
harlam357: Pleasure to meet you formally as well. I didn't know there were so many musicians on this board. You sound like a prime candidate for the beats of the the T32 jingle
ihrsetrdr: Great to meet you as well. Fort Eustis is right up the street from me, so you know of my stomping grounds. I have always wondered what your name meant. I figured I would find out that it was something simple and kick myself in the butt for not getting it on my own.
Adak: My most fierce competitor recently. You have really put some pressure on. Looks like you'll be in my rear view mirror again quicker than I thought. Thanks for letting me pass you for a little while! Try not to blow my windows out when you speed by
To Gary (aka LandShark): I want to publicly say thanks a million for performing this service for this community. It continues to be a great way for us to see past the usernames and joins up the personalities with the people. You are truly a champion for the folding effort!
Cuda: Great to meet you as well. Thanks for the folding encouragement!
Cajun: Also a pleasure to meet you formally, although I read posts by you all the time!
Adak: It will only be one quad, so I doubt I'll be kicking up too much dust.
To Everyone: I'm gonna be at 300k sometime on 6/28 or 6/29. I'm excited
