vista aero question

No. as long as it is included in the vista that you are buying, then it will be installed but won't be activated. However, I wouldd be suprised if it didn't activate. For some strange reason, I haven't been able to find a computer that it was automatically disabled for YET. Including VMware...
 
It should just be disabled by default and not include an option to turn it on.

Once you install a DX9 capable card, you'll just have to install the drivers, reboot, and then change the theme to see Aero.

Right click desktop, personalize, window color and appearance, blue link which says classic appearance properties. Then just select Windows Aero from the list on the left. If you don't have DX9 capabilities, there shouldn't be an option at all for Aero there and it will probably be set as Windows Vista.
