That was my ctrl-c that killed it... it likely would have continued doing this until the sun swallowed the earth. Yay for science!

My PPD dropped by... oh, I don't know... 12k. This killed every single one of my PE1950s and a couple other duallie rigs, which means 2x duallie 5130s, 4x single-proc 5130, 1x 5160, 2x duallie Nocona 3.2 and it poisoned the partridge in my pear tree =/. I've been out of town for 4 days so I never noticed it.

Oh, awesome...

This beta expired on July 1, 2007.

I hate you Stanford...

I know how that feels when you go out of town and come back to find out most of the machines are down..... :-/
Yeah, me too. It took me a week to get my avg. ppd back up.

Looks like a typical Windows SMP hang. I avoided almost all of them by dialing back on the OC by 5 MHz (FSB).
The new client won't expire for three more months, but none should have stopped folding due to old client expiration unless they were shutdown and restarted after July 1.

speaking of WinSMP hang, on my laptop, it always randomly hang! I have to check on the task manager to see if it's running or just leaving the fah.exe there w/ no core running..... no, it's not heat related as I have a antec lappy cooler running full speed underneath the laptop and it's not even warm to touch. :-/

Some machines, perhaps chipsets , seem to be more prone to hangs than others. I suspect it is undervolting the North Bridge that causes the problem, generally a segmentation fault, and that could be the case on many laptop chipsets. They may simply not be designed to handle the SMP client. I've experienced hangs principally on ASRock 775 Dual-VSTA motherboards that have no NB voltage control. One P5B that hung was cured with a NB voltage nudge.

Likely a while... ALL SMP clients, and both GPU clients are still listed as beta as of this past weekend.

But a speculatin' steve might hazard a guess that the V6 clients will be out before SMP stops being beta.... Now of course, in a perfect world, we would get V6 to support single core instances and dual core instances from the same client... But I'm not sure I'll ever see that day.
