i have an asus a8v-se in my htpc (i know, i know, but it was cheap) and, with little else to do, decided to poke around the bios. i noticed these two settings:

PEG Data Scrambling [AUTO, Enable, Disable]
PE0-PE3 Data Scrambling [Enable, Disable]

anyone have any idea what they do? they are both enabled by default. i suspect it somehow slows my pci-e, but google has yet to reveal anything concrete. i did try to disable them but the video card fails and the mobo gives an indecipherable beep code (2 short, 3 long), though the machine sometimes boots without the vga. putting them back to auto/enable brings the video back.
