Well..not exactly bad.
But im averaging like 90fps at 1680x1050 2xaa and 4xaf.
Isnt this bad?! I have a sufficient psu, and e6400 sitting 3.2ghz right now.

I would expect to never hit belows anything close to 100fps. Im using either the 165.01 drivers or the ones off of nvidias site. Decently new for sure.

My 7600gt at 1024x768 at the same settings in cs averages amost the same thing.

I have a decent 3dmark06 score of 12200 but game performance isnt what id like.
Also in bf2 at 2xaa i hit as low as 50-60 fps. Yes this is in XP.

Normal??

no definetly not normal.... i can have my 8800gts @ stock with my e6600 @ 3.0ghz, and i can run bf2 @ 1280x1024 @ 8xAA and 8xAF with tripple buffering, and high quality textures, with vsync on only on very rare ocasions to i go below 85fps.

i would suggest uninstalling the current drivers, then use driver cleaner pro to completly get rid of them, then install the latest non beta drivers off nvidias site.

You also have to take in consideration that your 8800 is running at higher resolution then your 7600 did.

But it should be higher fps.

Yes i know.
That was the main comparison.
I just installed the new drivers but they dnt appear to be doing much in cs.
I can say around 250fps in dust2 tunnels bu outside or anything generally happening and its 100fps or so.
Hmmm..

How many fps do you get in the stress test?

If your CPU is stock, it's probably bottlenecking your card too.

dan

sounds like bad fps, my 1900xtx runs at 100fps at 1680x1050 with everything maxxed on a less cpu. so something is wrong.

Im in vista right now idling 66c.
Ill do the stress test in a couple minutes when i load XP again.

Well in XP now with the fan turned up in ntune im idling 54c on the card.
Load in ati tool after 5 minutes was 74c. Not bad

Oh and i go 241 then 246fps in the source test. Everything on high, color correction enabled, no hdr, 2xaa and 4xaf. 1680x1050
Temp after the test was 63c in ntune

Alright and at 16xq aa and 16x af i got 205fps with a temp of 65. Not bad i guess, but stress test doesnt show actual play performance.

I average around 120-130FPS Everything maxed, 1600 vs 1200, with all the AA and AF maxed out

and im on a 2 year old computer
AMD 64 x2 3800 (oc'd to 2.4ghz)
7800GT 256mb
1 gig ddr2 4200 (533 or 666mhz? )

its nothing insanely impressive, but I can play most things incredibly well on high settings and Great FPS.

I have a gift!!

the strange thing is that
my roomate bought almost identical parts to mine, from newegg. The only real difference is he chose to get a 8800GTS(320mb)
and the strange thing is hes running at 1280x1024 and most things maxed, and averaging around 80-90FPS.
very strange! that i get 30-40fps mroe than him on the similiar system, and he ahs a better videocard

What map are you pulling the original 90fps on? All of them? Custom maps? HDR maps? It really depends on the map alot of the time. In the assault server I play on sometimes, I get 90FPS, at 1920 x 1200 with everything on high.

type fps_max "300" in the console. Maybe you have it set below 100. there's other tweaks u can do in the console to up the fps. yea also what map are you playing at? are there tons of people playing in the server?

I just did a quick test on my system.

With exact game settings in CSS, i get about 160-260FPS on a 20 person Dust2 server.

So yeah, something isnt right with his set up.

edit.

With everything to the max; 16xQ CSAA, Anisotropic x16, i get about 70-130FPS.

Well i usually only have it on 2xaa and 4 af.
Its on dust2 mainly as judgment, i was in an office though like 40 people getting like 60fps in the garage area!

I dont think i ever get up to 270fps in d2 perhaps, but i can in empty maps like scousknivez pretty easily
I just woulsdnt expect it to ever drop below 100fps if is suposed to be so much faster or atleast marginally then the old cards.

Woah yeah I have an E6420 @ 3.2GHz, paired up with an x1800xt 512MB and I get 150+ fps average on CSS with maxed settings, 4xAA 16xAF, 1680x1050.

Just a couple days ago I did the CS:Source Stress Test (CPU was at stock), full detail at 1920x1200 and got 208.4 FPS.

What drivers are you using? The 158.22?

EDIT: Never mind the drivers question. Try the stress test and see what you get.

The numbers I got with my current system were:

1024x768: 247.9 FPS (4:3)
1280x1024: 246.3 FPS (4:3)
1600x1200: 246.7 FPS (4:3)
1680x1050: 244.2 FPS (16:10)
1920x1200: 223.8 FPS (16:10)

Max detail, full AA, full AF, HDR, Bloom, etc. You can actually see that at a point, lowering resolution has almost no effect on the frame rate. You numbers under similar settings should be around here.

VSync caps FPS at 60...so not sure how you are getting higher than that lol!?

i'm experiencing kinda the same thing for me with my 8800GTS.

my fps dips into the teens (12-20) in office deathmatch servers with 20+ ppl. this happens when there are like 3+ ppl in my screen. my settings are 4xAA 16xAF with everything maxed. i even tried 2xAA still didn't do anything.

i don't remember if my old X1900XT256 did the same but i guess i'll give it a try and swap it in to see if it's different.

The Source Engine, unlike many other engines, was actually optimized for ATi instead of NVidia. The game came out right after the massive success of the 9000 series, and with the X800 coming soon, it seemed like the perfect solution. Might be part of why it ran equally well on the ATi.
