well..i just logged onto redflag deals, turns out its been exactly one year since iv logged onto that site! lo and behold my SIG was current, as of a year ago..hahah

anyways, here's what i had:
mcw6000:maze4:mag3:BIX2
ASUS P5WD2-P
830 @ 4.1ghz 37/48
2GB PQI - X800Pro 605/570
36G Raptor - 250G maxtor
Logitech MX5000
2x 21" GDM5410
3DMark 03:13,756 05: 6,365 PCMark 04: 8,480 05: 5,654

and what i currently have, is in my sig..amazing how much its changed
i think iv gone from 830 -> 920 -> 930 -> e6300 -> e6400 -> e6600

I have an entirely different computer now than I did a year ago. My old computer is now the HTPC in my sig. New one is the main rig.

2.4C HT @ 3400mhz -> later a 3.0E @ 3800mhz
Gigabyte GA-8IPE 1000Pro-G
1GB OCZ PC5000 DDR Platinum EL
x800pro AGP-> switched to (new) x850pro from RMA w/ V1 Ultra
Rosewill RP500 PSU
1 Seagate 80GB PATA and 1 Seagate 120GB SATA
Audigy2zs
Aspire X-Cruiser (plastic faceplate ahoy)

to

Pentium-D 940 @ 3.9ghz (1.39v) -> switching to a 4mb cache c2d in early August
Gigabyte GA-965PDS3 Rev 1.3
2GB G-Skill 6400 DDR2
9200se :( until next week -> HIS x1950pro 512mb
Rosewill RP500 PSU (running fine without video but I need a change) -> switching to a Silverstone OP650 next week
1 Seagate NS 250GB SATAII, 1 Seagate 250GB SATAI, and 1 Seagate 120GB SATAI
Audigy2zs -> Switching to a bluegears b-Enspirer for vista (still works great in ubuntu and xp though)
Thermaltake Armor with 25CM side fan (much, much happier with this case - Thought about a P180 until I helped my friend rebuild his... the compartmentalized design was difficult to work with and cramped, and I didn't like the BTX config.)

Still running on the same Big Typhoon cooler with a 120x38mm Sanyo Denki fan. Currently running the 940 at 41C fully-loaded (x1950 hasn't arrived yet though so we'll see if/how far temps go up). I could slap a 150CFM Delta AFB (SHE) on there but even at 7V those things are pretty loud. The Sanyo runs at a dull murmur tuned down, and even at full it's not overpowering.

One Year Ago to date:

AMD Venice30001
2x512 GSkill PC4400LE1
7800GT OC2
Hydor L35 Pump = Cracked
2 x 36 GB Raptors3
2 x DFI Chipset Fans :mad: :bang head

1=Bought and Sold in Classifieds
2=Sold in Classifieds
3=To be Announced :santa:

Different:

motherboard (twice)
psu (twice)
gpu (twice)
cooling system
case mod
cdrom
processor
memory (three times)
hdd's

...so everything, alot of things many times.

I added 1GB of ram and changed from dual 17" CRT's to dual 19" LCD's this year, rest is the same, end of this year/next year will be a big upgrade.

I RMA'ed the RAM and they upgraded me to the next step up (that's part of what I love about OCZ's RMA service), sold the video card and several months later bought a new one, and added a second hard drive and put them in RAID 0. Not that much compared to some of your rigs, but still... :beer:

I'm too embarrassed to publish what I had one year ago LOL. But since I built this rig in Jan. 07

  • Upgraded the PSU
  • Added a GPU cooler
  • OC'd GPU
  • Added/Replaced case fans
  • Bought 2 more HDDs (RMA'd one, just got it back. Gonna RAID 0..someday :rolleyes:)
  • Bought a new monitor, mouse and keyboard

3200+ Clawhammer, 1 GB of ram, 300 GB HD, Broken DVD burner, a black chenming tower, Generic 500 watt PSU, 7600GT, and a win tv pro2000 to a...

5200x2 AM2, 2 GBs of ram, 160 GB hd(for the moment, onboard video (for the moment), a working dvd burner, a q pack case, a TT pure power PSU, and still looking for a board (probably will get the Tforce AM2 off the egg though) oh and the same TV tuner too.

The rig in the sig was built in November, 2006.

The previous was:

MSI K8N mobo
AMD X2 3800+
1GB RAM
72 GB Raptor
2x 120MB storage HDD in RAID 0
2x XFX 6600GT video cards

An enormous step up; next upgrade will likely be to 2x Quad Cores for a total of 8 cores, depending on pricing; memory and storage subsystems should be adequate for quite some time to come. Enterprise class components are where it's at for me...

1 year ago:
Abit fatal1ty AN8-SLI
2GB ram
300gb hdd
X2 4800 (was top of the line when I got it)
550w Antec Truepower
ATI x700pro (I liked this card, got it cheap)
Today
Asus A8n-e (chipset managed to die on the Fatal1ty, gonna replace since I think its killing gfx cards)
Same ram and hdd (probably the only to parts still the same)
600w superflower Aurora (not the best choice I know, but the Antec was causing pc to restart and voltages were slightly unstable)
x1600pro (gonna upgrade to a 8600GTS since this ones dieing, dont know what happened to the original x700pro. Just got up one day and artifacts.)
x2 4400 (the 4800 died when I tried to remove the cpu waterblock. Aperrently AS5 turns into epoxy after a few months on a cargo ship)
So basically instead of upgrading over the past year, I ended up having to downgrade.

I was running a CBBID Opteron, DFI UT SLI DR, 7800 GT, 535w Enermax, 1gb of Patriot TCCD, about 270 gb of WD hdd storage, and a Big Typhoon (hate the mounting system ...bad).

Not too long before all my a64's, was my watercooled AXP's. I still have my TC4 somewhere.

I've gone from socket 754 sempron 2800+ /w 1GB DDR RAM, AGP 6600GT to X2 3600+, 7900GS and 2GB RAM. It simply kick's *** now :)

I love upgrades :clap:

Upgrades were Opteron 180 dropped in over an A64 3500. Corsair 520HX power supply over two borked Antec TP 480s. The latter upgrade was not voluntary! :bang head

Hrm a year ago:
Opteron 144
ASRock 939Dual
2x512gb Corsair Value PC3200
Radeon 9800Pro
Ultra X-Connect 500W PSU

CPU:
Opteron144 -> Brisbane X2 3600+

Mobo:
ASRock 939Dual (died)-> Biostar TForce550

Ram:
2x512 Corsair Value PC3200 -> 2x1gb Kingston Value Ram DDR2667 -> 2x1gb Crucial Ballistix DDR2800

Video:
Radeon 9800Pro (killed by X-Connect)-> Radeon 8500 -> Geforce FX5600Ultra (friend lent it to me) -> Geforce 7900gs

PSU:
Ultra X-Connect (POS died) -> Enhance 5150gh

lets see, last year at this time we had a LAN (again this year) and my rig at the Lan was:
[email protected]
same P5WD2-P
Same WC loop minus the sanyo denki fans (had deltas WFB's)
had ocz 2gb ddr2
had x850xt
and just a 200gb maxtor

between now and then i have had:
dfi lanparty sli-d
3000+venice
2x512mb generic ram

805D
P5WD2E-P
Kingston ddr-667 valueram (my 533 out performs by far)

and now ive got the setup in rig. basically i just added a 320GB seagate, 7900GTO (sold x850xt to friend who busted it), changed ram, and went with a record setting 930D from {pms}fishy. and everything else was sold for the most part as i didnt need it/needed money

a year ago I had

3200+
msi neo 2
ocz pc 4200 1gig
x800pro
ocz power stream 520

Then i had
4400+
dfi ultra d
OCZ pc4200 1 gig
7800gt
enermax 620

and now have current rig in sig

heh, I had the same winchester 3200+ for like 2 years before the opterons started popping here on the forums. went through like 5 939 boards, 2 opterons 165 and 170 and 2 7900 cards, a 7600 card, aiw x800xt and a laptop heh.

atm im sitting on a intel 2160 which was a complete platform swap. so i figure i actully SPEND about $1000/year on upgrades, since most of my parts pay for the new ones.
the biggest change for me though is getting my first tablet pc. since i got it, i turn the desktop on like twice a week to dump anime on or play some games. otherwise, im completly mobile. I just wish mine had a faster everything heh. The new tablets are still a little too pricey for what you get. maybe my next one will be a pure slate or maybe ill buy a macbook black. those things are hot.
