upgrade help 4 my system plz

hi all i new to here so hello, i am looking for help on upgrading my gfx. i looked at a lot of posts but arent sure what card to get that wont bottleneck my system too much.

RIG:

bfg nf4 ultra mobo

amd 3800x2 @ 2.6 ghz

2 gig 3500l pro ddr 400

psu= zalman ZM 460B -APS

LG 19 inch L194WT @ 1440x1900.

i am thinking of iether Radeon 2900 @ 1 gig, or Nvid 8800. i only got £300 to spend.

will my cpu and psu be ok for iether of these? dont really know anything about 12v rails and amps etc.

as i see from other posts there are some real knowledgeable people on here so any help will be great as i want to upgrade from my 6800GS 512mb. thanks in advance

For what you are looking at, that system will be a huge bottleneck for the video card. Is there some reason you are going with an socket 939 X2 over the newer Core 2 Duos or socket AM2 AMDs?

I would personally get a 8800 GTS 640MB, best value right now, but upgrading to a 8800 GTX isn't a bad choice either.

I'm guessing hes going with socket 939 because its what he already owns. (hence the word upgrade) As far as a bottleneck I wouldn't worry about it. I would get the 320mb 8800gts to match the rest of that computer. You will get a real nice performance bump over the 6800.

thanks i really appreciate the help.

yes this is for my current system i cant afford to buy complete new system at the mo.

this is on a xp pro aswell, not vista. also will a vf900 or thermalrite HR-03 fit the 2900? it will be ok for the 8800 tho yes?

tbh i prefer Nvid over ati but want the best for the $$$, i been looking at these 8800's wich u think best, the GTS superclocked or GTX?

I'd get the first one, the regular GTS 640.
