Can I boot a pc without the harddrive?

My hardrive still isnt here yet, I have everything else assembled though, I was wondering if I could boot the pc and check if everything works without the HD?

you should be able to get to bios since that's all contained on the MB. that's about it though.

You could download a "Live Linux" disc such as the distro Ubuntu. It will load off the disc and store the operating system in RAM.
