Which resistor should I get?

Hey guys, I'm fixing a failed vmod 7800gt. From what I have been reading everyone is saying the resistors are ~1k ohm. Is there a certain voltage rating or anything else I should be looking for? Thanks

Yes, there is a voltage rating for resistor, but for your case, even the lowest rated voltage is safe enough for that gfx, so just ignore them or just pick one that will fit in there !

I am going to be ordering online. What is the best way to make sure I get what I need?

he..he.. if I was you, I will find that resistor from broken mobo, or other not used circuits like GFX, old electronic boards and etc.

Btw, what kind of resistor you're going to solder in there ? If you can take a picture, I might be help with some clue where to find it free ! Of course some soldering skill needed !

Lol, it sounds like we're both on the same page here. I was gonna send digikey an email free sample request. I talked to a rep and they gave me an address for that. Im prepared to do some soldering.

LOL .. I didn't mean that kinda free sample, what I said is to salvage the resistor from old broken mobo or other old unused electronic boards.

If you can fix it you should put a "Powered by Digikey" sticker on there in return for the free part . I'm sure they'd appreciate getting some advertising in return .

lol, I would but it wouldn't really be advertising since my card will be in the comp the whole time (no window).

The card will probably work without the resistor. If you are upto it, I would try what Gautam did, i.e connect a 2k multi-turn pot (Bournes) to the lead outs and see what happens.

Well I'm pretty sure that the resistance is ~1k ohm. I would rather not trash the card by "just trying" something. Does anyone know what voltage rating I should ask for?

Ok, I started on the card yesterday. I soldered a couple ~1k ohm resistors onto it. But I couldn't make a very clean solder. Does anyone know of a better way to detach and re-solder these little suckers? other than those soldering tweezer things?
