Hello

Does anyone know if the fan shipped in the box with the quad core Q6600 is silent? If not, anyone recommend me a good one?

EDIT : im not gonna overclock

thanks

If you're not in OC-ing, Intel stock HSF fan should be pretty quite imo.

Or.. unless you want totally quite is to go fanless "BUT" with high end HSF and using under voltage Vcore. :D

The stock fan is pretty quiet with Intel's temperature sensing scheme activated in the bios.

If you also get a thermal advantaged case you will be doing quite well. A thermal advantaged case has a fresh air intake duct on the side and a 120mm exhaust fan at the back (ThermalTake Black Matrix is an example). Combined with the power supply fan exhaust you should have good and quiet ventillation.

Im choosing the NZXT lexa case, should be good

Definitely a kewl looking case but it's not thermally advantaged because the side panel duct opening is too low to align with the cpu and the opening is covered in plastic grills that will block air flow. A case like the Matrix has the entire front made of mesh that catches dust to keep the case clean.
