We have the beer smiley to cater to our younger audience. If they ought not to drink in the real world, perhaps they could sample a virtual drink. Also, in the virtual world, the moment you OC, you are no longer underaged (virtually ofcourse!). So have a

People aren't being forced to use the beer smiley. And 1. Alcohol is fun, 2. Minors are going to see alcohol and alcohol references everywhere they go, and 3. Alcohol can have beneficial effects if used in moderation. If people are really that offended by a smiley on an internet forum, they need to 1. Step outside, and 2. Think of "beer" as shorthand for "rootbeer" . I am only posting this because the beer smiley is a classic and must be defended at all costs. That said, I'm not opposed to the addition of a soda smiley.

There's always a chance of someone being offended by something, it's unavoidable.

EDIT: And I wasn't seriously suggesting those emotes for submission, lol.

Your post offends me! I demand that a mod delete it or I'm leaving!

And no, alcohol is not fun, at least not if you're not the one drinking it. The number of times I've been insulted/attacked (verbally)/almost involved in an accident (driving) by drunk people is innumerable. However, on the forums here it's all fun. If you can't even differentiate between real life and the internet I think you have bigger issues.

But seeing a little smiley face holding a brown rectangle with a white top makes me want to get drunk!

Seeing this one makes me want to start myself on fire:

And this one makes me want to beat my head on a brick wall!

These are all dangerous and should be removed immediately!

You know what guys? You can use image tags on the forums. And any time that you see a smiley that you like, you can save it in some local collection and use it as you wish.

Problem Solved.

Maybe we could get rid of the Christmas Hat Icons of & . Those aren't politically correct, and could be offensive to non-Christians. Maybe the icon should go since it hints at violence, and we can't have violence on a Discussion Forum about Overclocking your PC and not about your Personal Life.

Oh God did I really just read what I just read? Please tell me that this isn't happening to this Forum? Is it so flooded with these liberal topics now I have to go to XS? Can't get any help at XS so I'm really not trying to go that route. But if this keeps up, I'll be Classifieds Only for OCF in no time.

The reality displayed in this forum is selective. We all know that. I don't really think we should outlaw the beer icon, I'm just noting that what we deem offensive and inoffensive is rather...inconsistent. Not worth going into. *sigh*

Still can't believe how weak this is. Offended by beer???

Also, you're NOT the "huge majority". http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.p...at+age+are+you

One might argue that that 2 year old poll would appear even more different now, perhaps OLDER.

Plus, the Euro's rarely have an age limit. I'd say get over it and find something else to get PC about.

According to that poll, 60% of us are over 20 years old, 2 years ago. Lets say 2 percent are exactly 20. That leaves like 58% of us over 21, which is partially irrelevant anyway because we have many members here not subject to American law.
