Well, after about a month of researching my new system, I think it's safe to finally call my build list complete!

Please keep in mind that while the quantities of some items seem excessive for a single build, I want to have extra for mistakes, modifications, etc in the future.

Also, this isn't a small list by any means! I broke things down into 3 sections for ease of reading: Main, Liquid Setup, Miscellaneous.

For most of you, the important things are in the main section.

The group of liquid cooling guys will probably find my Liquid Cooling section a bit interesting.

Finally, anyone who's interested in looking at the fine little details that most don't think about until they find it's needed (or they wish they had purchased after the fact) can get some ideas twords the bottom of my list.

Now, before anyone comments about a particular piece of equipment, heres a better understanding of my ultimate goal with all these items:
  • Very good performance with reasonable overclocking abilities.
  • Quality parts.
  • High quality graphics - I don't want to upgrade my cards anytime soon.
  • Change in current color theme (black/silver/blue) to Black/Red/Gold.
  • Clean layout, easy to work in. Visually appealing.
I welcome all your comments and suggestions -and I hope most of you will agree that i've come up with a list that should work quite well without cutting many corners. You will notice, this is not a budget system by any means...

be warned, philips dvd burners are loud. there are better drives with excellent write quality test results that run much more quietly.

Looks like you will have your hands full on this build. Huge watercooled rigs always catch my eye so I hope you do a build log or something with this. :)

Yeah, I read that on neweggs owner reviews too. If they're really that loud, then im willing to swap them out for something else...I just really liked the high speed they offered.

Not many people are a fan of bay res' I've heard they can be alot of hassle filling/draing.

Better hardrives AFAIK . Quiter+faster.

Thanks James!

I've been a user of WD for close to 10 years now without a single failure, so they've been really good to me. At this time, I don't expect to change, but Maxtor/Seagate is indeed a good alternative.

As for the bay reservoirs, I suspect I'll catch a lot of flack for getting them, but I think I'll be able to manage them. Filling will be the only interesting experience as I will be using the danger den fillports on a T fitting for draining.

Im hoping it the bay res's wont be 1/2 the trouble everyone says they are - but if I come to hate them, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong (unless I can sneak in the swap without anyone noticing, lol).

I'd personally get this case and just add accessories (CCFLs, etc) as it's water cooling ready, cheaper but still made by Lian Li.

These are definately nice cases, but unfortunately, I desire the front bay door. Otherwise, that one was actually the first Lian Li case to make it to my build list.

do you really need the 1000w psu? i htink the corsair 620w for around 80$ is enough for teh system.

I really don't think a 620 watt PSU is going safely run 2 Nvidia 8800 GTX's, a 105 watt cpu, 2 water pumps and all the other gadgets on there. My understanding is that the closer you reach the upper limits of the PSU, the more problems you have with consistant/clean power.

Personally, Id rather not chance it (plus have room to grow). I do wish it were cheaper though...

personally, I would GTS because its about 2 bills cheaper but price doesnt seem to be a factor in your monster system! good luck, im jealous :p

Well guys...the ball is officially rolling. All above parts have been ordered to a tune of $4,250.20 (including shipping).

I swear, for this price, the thing had better perform better than my wife!!!!!!

Will update as things progress (like, when my bank calls and asks what the hell is going on! lol).

The deeds been done - and im off to bed -->

Yeah...we'll if someone hadn't went and made himself a new puter, I wouldn't be here making one myself! :p

[edit] and oh yeah, as expected, the bank DID call regarding my sudden purchases, lmao!
Course, that was after SVC.com called me to let me know that my card wasnt going through. :\

Well, a quick update! All orders are here and I've started putting some time into the build.

Warning..crappy cellphone pics for now:

Just got a coat of fresh flat black paint on that scuffed up case interior (it really hurt to take that scrubbing pad to a brand new Lian Li case :bang head)

After letting her dry, I started installing some of the goodies
puter3.jpg

Since then, I got the waterblocks on the 2 8800GTX's and installed on the motherboard and sleeved my PCI USB bracket.

This weekend I'll get a lot more accomplished!

[edit]
Really sorry about the image sizes. I completely spaced resizing them. Will do so when I make my next update...
