cable proble,, its an emergency!!

ok so im fixing my sister laptop and the cable that connects the power button to the board has cheap aluminum strips that came off after i plugged/unplugged the cable several times, and now wont start...ill post a pic of it in a second. anyone have any idea how to fix it, or mod an alternative wire to switch
i need to get this thing done or my dad will flip(he's sick of my sister always using his and its his birthday...not good, luckily the parents are out of town but i dk when they will be home)
