EVGA/DFI/XFX 680i Quad-core owners, VDROOP mod!

omg... I just did the mod. It is FRIGGING AWESOME..

I searched around and I found the mod, credit goes to SYMPHY from XS. It's a simple #2 pencil, drawing a 2mm line!!!! 5 seconds!

Here's a picture from his mod
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../vmodseVGA.jpg

Here are some screen caps, not really pushing the board. Just wanted to see the mod in action...

Before the mod, idle cpu (note the BIOS set vcore is 1.3625v, actual is 1.33v)
http://img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=idlebefore.jpg

Before the mod, load cpu (note the BIOS set vcore is 1.3625v, actual is 1.29v)
http://img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=loadbefore.jpg

After the mod, idle cpu (note the BIOS set vcore is 1.3625v, actual is 1.34v)
http://img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=idleafter.jpg

After the mod, load cpu (note the BIOS set vcore is 1.3625v, actual is 1.36v)

If you have the 680i board, DO THIS MOD!

I apologize for that, pasted the wrong link! Corrected now. I highly advise people to do this mod! Still tweaking, i'm on 3.55ghz 24/7 now, but could boot, play Call of Duty 2 no problem at 4.0ghz, can boot at 4.2ghz but will BSOD.. Still tweaking with the volt/speeds of NB/SB, but this mod helped ALOT, stabilized alot of the NB volts/temps as well.

Note the voltages before and after. My temps are actually ALOT better than the posted, but I didn't have my AC. As soon as I got home from work, I penciled and screen shotted. But it helps the temps too!

Again, not taking credit, this is all Symphy's work, but hope this help some people with their 680i's!

graphite mods have been good for temporary resistance, but in the long run you're better off using leads (wires) and a resistor (variable or fixed). Some people say to coat the graphite with nail polish, but usually that will pull away and suspend some of the graphite, reducing the amount of material providing resistance along the circuit.
