Music/Bandwidth Problem

I just got a t61 with vista home basic on it, and I've noticed that whenever I have music playing my music downloads slow down and pages take longer to load. To test my suspicions i used the speedtest.com bandwidth test and found out that when i have music playing (winamp) my bandwidth is about half of what it is when i don't. I ran 32m super pi in the background to see if it was just processor load that reduced my bandwidth and it didnt change anything at all.
