I know clock for clock the x1950pro is faster and will beat the 7900gs in most applications and games. However at what point, aka, at what CLOCK SPEEDS, does the 7900s need to hit to beat the STOCK x1950pro since the x1950pro are terrible overclockers.

I found a deal on a msi 7900gs for 150, its the 512mb version and has the clock speed o/c'd to 550/1400mhz already. Im figuring i could easily get it to 650/800. And if i require a little soldering to get there then so be it, i did it to my mobo and it still works lol.

Short Version: Would a 7900gs oc'd to 600/800 give or take +-50 beat out an x1950pro?

An OC'd 7900GS with 512mb should beat a x1950pro 256mb.

If you luck out, that 7900GS may have a 7900GT core, and you may be able to unlock the pipes.

@ stock clocks X1950PRO is faster but it does not oc well

oc'd a 7900gs wins

a vmodded 7900gs can get 750 MHz + core/ 900 MHz+ (1,900 + MHz) mem and can pull over 7k in 3d06

i say 7900gs

only some BFG 7900gs used the GT core and yet to see any other manufacturers do this

basically since 7900gt's were out of production BFG was getting rid of 7900GT's by hardware masking the 4pp/1vp and shipping them off as 7900gs's hence can be unlocked by rivatuner

My 7900gs pulls 6000+ 3d06 points not done vmod yet clocks are in sig.
Can anyone point me to a guide to do the flash voltmod plz?

7900GS is a killer card. With the 256MB card, running at 1280x1024 resolution, you can play through Bioshock at Max settings 20-30 FPS (overclocked of course). That's pretty decent for a $150 mid-range card IMO. The 512 MB version, OC'd with a volt-mod, would probably give me some eye candy and decent framerates at 1680x1050.
