Codec problem for vent, not sure what to do

Codec problem for vent, not sure what to do


I haven't been on vent all weekend then i get on now and I get this

Unable to initialize outbound codec (GSM 6.10-44 KHz, 16 bit): Unable to fine the specified codec.

I cant hear anything and they can't hear me. I've never ever had a problem with vent before so pleaes help

Well...you can't hear anything and they can't hear you because the codec is missing

Either reinstall Vent if comes with it or re-install the codec.

ok i'll try reinstalling but is there any way to save my servers I have saved?

Not sure, I don't have vent, but I assume it saves them somewhere in the folder where it is installed to.

Vent saves the server list in the Application Data folder....here's an eg. of the directory that you will find it in:

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Ventrilo

The file is a .ini file which will be called "ventrilo2.ini" (Yours may be just "ventrilo.ini" but you get the idea. Save the .ini file and you should be okay. Worst case scenario, you can open the .ini file with wordpad and re-enter the info for the servers.

the person who owns the vent server should be able to change the codec serverside. I know that mac's can only use one specific codec, so i had to have my admin change the server over to allow me to partake.

i don't know much about the windows version, tho.
