Live Messenger keeps asking for Flash

Recently got a new laptop and have been going through the process of getting everything installed. I installed the latest version of live messenger and the latest version of Flash Player plugin. However, everytime I start messenger it prompts me to install. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both several times, tried the new beta version of flash but to no avail. What can I do?

Expand the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash directory, and double-click on FlashUtil9b.exe. Make sure all your browsers are closed, then reboot.
