I just want to know:

What was/were the fastest Intel CPU/CPUs back in May 2006? And how much did they cost back then?

Also, what was the lastest Intel motherboard chipset back in May 2006?

Desktop? The i965D EE which was a 3.73ghz 266FSB Presler based chip that went for $999 in 1k trays.

That was just before the i965 chipset came out. So I guess i955/i975 would have been tops.
