Well, 64 bit uses different drivers. Some companies are horrible about releasing working drivers for their components. The company put 32bit on because it will cause less problems, not like there is an advantage to 64bit as of now (except more memory addresses).

Translation: Yes they are able to put 64 bit on the laptop. Actually coming with 64 bit installed, I doubt it.

Here to help

You said you have a Core Duo. That's not a 64 bit chip, and cannot run Vista 64.
A Core 2 Duo is 64 bit, and can run Vista 64.

Which do you have? If I knew the product line better I could probably tell from the model number, but I don't.

Anyways, there's a big difference between the Core Duo and the Core 2 Duo. The first is 32 bit, the 2nd is 64 bit.

Looks like he just left out the 2. According to Intel:
http://processorfinder.intel.com/det...px?sSpec=SLA44
The T7500 is a Core 2 Duo.

Most programs are not compatible with a 64bit OS, and 32bit is a little cheaper.

Interesting, is it not possible to run 32bit apps in a 64bit windows? For Linux you simple install the 32bit libraries and programs run fine.

Programs will run fine, it's the drivers that you run into problems with.
