Moving work units

Good evening,

I just started on SETI again last week, and ran into a mini problem. I reformatted my Vista HD today and saved the downloaded work units. I placed them into the berkley project file with the few I had downloaded with the new install of BOINC/SETI.

I restarted BOINC but it does not seem to be picking them up. I've been having a real problem getting work, so the pile I had saved would be nice to crunch away on.

Is there a way to remedy this? I'm using Vista Home Premium, and the latest Core 2 Duo SSE3 optimized thread linked on these forums (Chicken?)

Thank you!

I remember reading that it was not possible to transport work to and from machines that lacked internet access. It is logical to assume that you just hit that same barrier.

I think thats right, when you look at the stats page the work units are tied to a particular computer. If you want more work just set the period of contact in your preferences to 5-6 days or something like that.

I think that the only possible way you could move the wu's would be to copy the whole BOINC folder, then after installing the BOINC app again (with internet access removed from the computer and using the same version as the old install's), close out the BOINC app and replace the new BOINC folder with the original that you copied from the old install. I think that will work, but I'm not positive.

Thanks for the help!

I seem to be holding a connection pretty well, I'm on terrible hotel wireless..but it seems like i can connect randomly..enough time to upload or download a few WU's. I will try the folder swap if I run into more troubles though.
