Hi,

The ECS K7S5A isn't on AMD's recommended list for the 1GHz Duron (Morgan) core, but I have heard from numerous people that it indeed does work with the 1GHz Duron. Is this true?

They must have updated the Supported CPU List since you visited last.

They don't show the BIOS version needed, but it clearly shows that the board supports up to the 1.1G Duron/morgan core. :D

Oh, okay. Is there any reason it doesn't support the 1.2GHz Duron?

ECS may show the K7S5A as supporting 1.1 Ghz Morgan cored Durons. That's all well and good. AMD "certifies" the mainboard as OK for 950 Mhz Spitfire cored Durons. AMD also lists the K7S5A as approved for 1900+ Athlon XP's-but not for any Athlon Thunderbird.

A mobo doesn't need to be on AMD's approved list to work with any given AMD processor. Nevertheless, AMD's imprimatur never huts!
