The bootable ISO has to be burned to a disc or emulated as a disc.

Tips in building and testing this kind of homemade boot CD, download the free Microsoft Virtual PC (not sure if its still free), and you can actually do the booting and the OS installation from you fresh made CD inside the virtual machine. :)

.

Microsoft releases a monthly ISO with all of the past hotfixes on it. Its over at MSDN. lemme see if I can find the link for ya. Its the update I used to my my bootable DVD with nlite.

you may have to be a MSDN subscriber for that am i right? also, here is a good tip to use they show you how to emulate on disk to burn if you need the boot image, i can throw it your way.

lol thanks redduc.. I was just getting ready to post that too... Its really handy. Just make sure you extract the ISO image and use the folders with "XP, X86" content.

Well if you're making an nlite cd, you need to extract it so you can slipstream them into your build. Theres a tool called nlite addon maker in cause you need to do that- comes in very handy!

What I use personally is both the RyanVM Integrator and RyanVM's Windows XP Post-SP2 Update Pack, both available at the link that bing supplied. I don't particularly care for nLite, and would rather use the Integrator... as it can also be used for slipstreaming Update Pack Addons and Switchless Installer packages:

Switchless Installer Releases

You can also SS the latest nVidia, RAID, Ethernet, etc. drivers using DriverPacks and nLite (in conjunction w/ the RyanVM Integrator)...

http://driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/

You'll need to download the DP Base and the DriverPack packages you plan on installing, i.e. Graphics (A, B, or C depending on which VC you're using). You can get a detailed description of what's included w/ each DP by clicking on the Detailed List of Supported Devices link for each DP.

You can find tutorials on how to integrate DP's into your SS'd install here...

sweet thnx guys

so if you wanna use nlite all you need is the september ISO up top and a sp2 disc right ? then you just extract it all to nlite and you'll have windows up to date ? I have never had luck with nlite seems like too much trouble, but still curious.

This is helpful. could Someone make a step by step guide and show how to slipstream the latest drivers for chip sets. would really be helpful. Running 7 DFI boards 24/7 can and most the time is a pain in the --- One disk with all the drivers for the 4 different formats would be grate
