I just bought 3 500GB drives today, and I've put them in a RAID 5 along with my Samsung 500GB. All of the drives are SATA II, and have a jumper to limit them to 1.5Gb. The jumper connector on the Samsung drive is solid black, and there is no jumper. The connectors on the Seagate drives are black on one side and gray on the half where the limit jumper would go (there are four pins total), but the gray bit doesn't seem to come off with pliers. The pins where the gray is seem short though, like it's a "half-height" jumper. Do they come with a jumper there, or am I going to break them if I try to remove that gray bit?

my four 250's came with the jumper on them too. I took a thumb tack and removed them that way. Nice and gently.

Guess I'll try that then. 266MB/s seems slow for RAID5 of four SATA II drives.
