Just ordered an ABIT IP35 Pro

I could get a 8800GTS or one of the new ATI cards ...

Cant get SLI, so if i get the 8800, ill be stuck with that ..

If i get an ATI card i could do CF i think .. later on if i want too ..

Hard choice .. i dont know much about the new ATI cards ..

From what I'v read 8800GTS > 2900 pro

Any comments?

things to consider,

CF on the intel mobo isnt great because the 2nd slot runs at 4x and will bottleneck the 2nd card ALOT.

I would just buy the best single card you can afford.

the 2900pros are essentially XT's if you can get one for $275 ish its pretty sweet card. They are all clocking above and beyond XT clocks.

The 8800 640 currently has 96 stream processors, soon NV will release a 112 stream processor 8800 640 for the same price, for comparison the 8800 gtx has 128 SP's.

Also for $250 price point the 8800gt will be released soon also, which will be around 2900pro to 8800 gts 320 speed, of course it could be slower we dont know yet.

ATI is also releasing a new card here shortly.

If I had to buy right now I would try and score a 2900 pro or I would try to score a 8800gts 640 around the forums for $300.

Or wait till the new 640 hits.

BTW ride the lightning freakin still rules the world, 24 years later.

if you have the money go with a 8800gts 640 or if you can spend more 8800GTX/U.

rumor on vr zone is the 8800gt is gonna be 600/900 with shader core of 1500 and 112 stream processors.... again speculation but vr zone is almost always correct.

I was reading something somewere saying that the 320 would be able to run Bioshock and Crysis at full. They said the 640 would. It was only like 90$ more, and i just got a paycheck in the mail, sooo ... wasnt really a problem

yea bioshock was sweet with everything maxed out if you want the most though you need to run vista for DX10. there are DX10 effects in bioshock but not DX10 required.

i ran crysis beta and bioshock in vista maxed out at 1680x1050 without issue no AA tho
the 640 may manage 2x AA and still get a little better frames.
