I can either get the crucial ballistix 240 pin DDR2 800 or DDR2 1066

I am going to be running my quad at 9 x 400 with water cooling
= 3.6 ghz and probably 4ghz in the future...

Is the stepup to the DDR21066 really worth the money to get? or will i do just fine with the DDR2 800 even if I have to push it a lil if I need to?

DDR2 1066 is $50 more.

It doesn't seem like I would need the extra mhz in the RAM since I'm not really going to be overclocking if. And if I do it will only be maybe 40 ghz over the rated speed, which I know these babys can do.

stick with the 6400s.if your goal is to hit 400fsb 1:1 youll hit that no sweat with plenty of headroom to spare.the 8500s are great ocers but they are overkill for 400fsb.

if you get decent 6400;s they will do 1000 in their sleep, like the crucials you bought already, the last set I had did 1000 with 4-4-4-8 timings and 2.1 volts, thats badass. if you go cas 5 your looking at 1100 easy.

^ok thanks guys. I will hold onto the DDR2 800's.

Yeah its not worth it, and if I need to, I can push these babys to 900 easy... (yeah right 4ghz on a q6600 g0 watercooled, I guess its possible) hmmm :D

what about for 4ghz max?

9 x 444 = 4ghz

DDR2 888. Would it be worth it to step up to the 1066? or will the DDR2 800's be ok for this clock? What advantages would be to overclock higher than the fsb speed? (like DDR2 1000, with a 444 fsb..?

For $50? No. Stick with the 6400s, they will do more than you ask of them. Only reason to go with the 1066 is because they may be binned better.

ok, Yeah I will just run my memory 1:1, thats not bad right? if i'm overclocking my cpu.. will it be holding me back or slowing me down/? running 1:1
