For some reason every time i try to open a google site i get this message, "connection was reset"....The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

I can open any other site, but not google. Any suggestions?

Check for firefox updates? Also do you know how to check your hosts file? It usually wouldn't be a concern unless you manually edited it but check windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts (open it with notepad)

what are you using for access to the net?

Cable, FIOS, DSL, dialup?

Do you have a firewall?

Is this on a computer that could previously access the intertubes?

Are you using any sort of MAC filtering to connect?

Is the IP settings on the issue rig correctly configured?

If you can ping it, it is probably your browser.

Can you open it with IE or another browser?

ok so you can ping google which means that DNS is correct.

http://www.updatexp.com/dns-windows-xp.html

try that.

Also try releasing the ip (ipconfig/release) and then renewing the ip (ipconfig/renew) from the command line.
