P5K Deluxe and SATA Configuration Issue - Please help

I just found something interesting today when trying to install 2 of my Samsung SATA DVDRW Drives.

My HDD is on SATA1 port.

I tried to install my DVD drives on Sata 2 - Doesn't work
I tried to install BOTH my DVD Drives on SATA 3 & 4 - Only see one on 3

So Now, I'm resorted to use:

HDD on SATA 1.
DVDRW Drive a on SATA 3
DVDRW Drive b on SATA 5 in order to see that.

Any Advices on what's going on? I may have to add more SATA Drives in the future, but right now, 2, 4, and 6 are useless IF 1, 3, and 5 are present?

The BIOS is 0505. And SATA Setting is default. (Enhanced with IDE).

Please advise.

Thanks a lot.

Heya Nkcd.

I would recommend you check out the Asus support forums HERE.

This is unforunately not that uncommon of an issue with the P5K series

Sometimes it happens with some boards and some HDs.

Seagates work very very well. Samsungs are hit or miss.....

Sorry. If you havnt flashed to the newest bios yet, I would start with that. Some SATA P5K issues have been resolved for SOME people with the new BIOS. Other than that, go to the link I posted above and search around. You can search that forum as well as filter although its not an intuitive thing, you gotta look around for it.

Good luck man.

Its just how the board is, youll have to learn to live with it. I have 3-WD drives and 2 SATA DVD-RW drives, and the only way i can get it all to work is by not using SATA1.

Also, Sata ports on this mobo are picky about what kind of Sata cables you use.

So I can use 2 and any others and they'll be independent and not grouped like how it is now?

Ok I just did a little research on the Asus support site.

Problem #1: There is no such BIOS listed as 0505 for the P5K Deluxe.

The newest BIOS is 0601, and the most recent previous bios is 0404.

I would flash to 0601 and see what happens.

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx

You SURE your POST screen shows a BIOS revision of 0505?

0505 was taken off when 0601 released
