Mobo for Q6600 ?

Hi mates!

I boiled it down to the IP35 Pro but want to get some advice before clicking checkout. Looking to spend under $200 but I wouldn't mind the SLI feature. Is there any other boards out there that you guys can recommend?

If you want SLI go with EVGA, they make the best 680i boards.

If SLi isn't that important to you, you can also consider the P5K-E. So far this board has treated me well, and I'm more than satisfied with it's OCing capabality. I've also read good things about the Abit IP35 Pro, so either board should do pretty good (with the P5K-E being a bit cheaper). Otherwise, if you really want SLi, then you'll pretty much have to go with a 680i motherboard.

If you are on a budget, I would say go for the Abit IP35-E.

It has basically the same board as the Abit IP35-pro except for lacking RAID and onboard Firewire.

I really love mine!

its not the same... the IP35-E and IP35 share the same pcb. the ip35-pro is a completly different pcb. as well the IP35-E and the IP35 use the same bios where the IP35-PRO is not able to be used on the latter 2 boards.

my vote would be for the Abit IP35-Pro if you want just a sinlge video card setup. as said if you want sli go with a EVGA 680I...

If your budget is $200, I would go for the P5K premium. AWESOME deal at clubit a the moment at $199.

You simply CANT go wrong with a Q6600 and a P5K premium

If you can wait a while, X38 boards are comming out now but I don't know how good the X38 chipset is yet. I didn't want to spend $200.00 on a board so I went with the gigagyte GA-P35C-DS3R for future ddr3 compatability. I can't recomend it yet, as I won't be ordering my Q6600 till tomorrow, and then I will see if the board is worth the price...This is my first non Abit board in ten yrs. After having every Abit board I own suffer from bad caps I decided on a change. I hope it was worth it...I'm hoping it will be viable for at least five yrs.

Thanks for all the advice! I went ahead and purchased the IP35 Pro bundled with the Q6600 and TRUE120

The IP35 Pro seemed more feasible being i want utilize RAID, heard the ASUS boards are having some problems in that area. I don't really need SLI as the only game i play is WOW

i was suprised to see wow run so well on a 6600gt at 1280x1024. it just didnt look the same though compared to a 7900 or 8800.

The Asus P5K series DOES have a SATA issue for some HDs, yes.....

I hear ppl complaining about it all the time on the Asus forums

I havnt had a single hiccup with mine though. Seagates are quite compatable with the P5K series and have not heard of any issues with them FWIW.
