Going to be building a new box and will be using a Vastech UV black light set up with FlexTech UV sleeving and am looking for some UV fans.

Does anybody have any experience with these Yate Loon's ??? I will be mounting one in the rear 120m/m fan opening (Lian-Li PC-7B Plus II) and hopefully for the CPU cooler...Since the CPU fan would be "mission critical" I really want a high quality fan's.

Last 120's I was into were the beloved Sanyo-Denki's.

One more question about these fans...Can I cut the leads to the LED's without affecting the fan ???

Cutting them should not be a problem, I did it on my CoolerMaster 120mm's.

Although, if you're not going to light them anyways, you might as well just get the black ones:

which have a reputation of being MUCH quieter.

Does it make a difference between the ball bearing and sleeve bearing? 1200 vs 1350, 45 cfm vs 47 cfm respectively. Can the ball bearing actually perform pretty much on par with 150 less rpm?

Actually, the bearing has nothing to do with the performance of the fan (CFM or airflow wise), it has to do with acoustics and longevity. Ball bearing fans tend to be more durable, but noisier than sleeve bearing fans.

Fan performance is mainly dictated by RPM, and also, to a lesser extent (for typical fan dimensions anyways), on fan blade design. So for similarly designed fans, the best indicator of flow performance is RPM; the higher it is, the most air it pushes.

Thanks for the reply's...I am going to be using a Vastech dual 12" UV black light...The Vastech UV black lights are super bright.

That is why I will probably cut the LED leads so only the UV fan frame with light up.

Yates for 5 bones and they are UV reactive...Gotta love it.

I bought 12 sets from Fry's...They were on sale for 4.99...The bulbs break fairly easily if you bend them...Really easy...The bulb is a very thin glass tube with a clear plastic tube protecting it.

There are a bunch of places that sell UV black lights...If you have ever done the cold cathode lighting...And then done the UV reactive cables, sleeving and fans...There is not much of a comparision...Well actually none at all.

The UV black lights with UV reactive stuff is the only way to fly.

In My Humble Opinion of course !!!!!

Just be aware that colored cold cathodes do not make UV reactive stuff light up...You need cold cathode UV lighting.

I have some pics of an old build that looks pretty cool...I will post some later on if possible.

Well I have some really bad *** ones...But they must be on some other hard drive or on a disk.

But here are a couple of pictures that were taken in daylight...Really have to see them in dim lighting or in the dark to really see the total effect.

I will root around and see if I can find the ones that are in dim and no light.
