Disc error's is Vista

I keep getting a disc error in vista and it prompts me to backup everything. But everything is still running fine like normal. This error only pops up after I restart. Is my drive partially corrupt or is it just slowly dying. Or is it just Vista being vista

Have you run manufacturer disk diagnostics on it?
