wanna just post the specs? Doesn't take THAT much effort.

Also, how much money are you willing to spend?

Your right didn't take THAT much effort, just posted the links. total came to about $1400, so I can live with that, providing the prices remain somewhat the same..prolly order in about a month or so

Get the seagate 250GB hard drives. the one with the 410 at the end of the code, those are single platter and have ridiculously high transfer rates.

If you are going AMD, either get a brisbane, the 5000+ BE or the 5600+ windsor.

I also agree with the 7200.10 410AS drives for your raid. The storage drive doesn't really need speed, but the new 500gig 7200.11 drive is out and you can consider it.

For PSU, take a look if the corsair 620HX is any cheaper. If not, PCPC is a very good company for psus.

I don't think there is a need to be spending $240 on a AMD mobo at this point. the brand new 790FX chipsets will be released shortly, and if you want to spend that much money on a mobo, i'd suggest you alleast wait and get the 790 mobos.

Personally, i would have change it around to something like...

e6750
gigabyte DS3R

cheaper mobo but definitely very decent and a better cpu.

Ok, great suggestions, like I knew there would be

changed the HD's, as well as the 500gig 7200.11

changed the cpu, kept the psu

changed the mobo to this, as suggested by White_Pawn...and saved some money, as long as this is the chipset you was referring to

I'd get a lower clocked 8800gt for $250 and spend the extra money from it on the processor. For $1400 I'd try to build a rig around a Q6600. Can't go wrong with PCP&C, definitely a good choice. If you're set on the 8800gt, go with EVGA for their lifetime warranty, and trade up. Also, I can say from personal experience, their customer service is excellent (as far as computer companies go). 4GB of ram is overkill unless you're running a 64bit OS. You could cut some cash from the ram, vid card, and maybe the hard drives and go for the quad core setup. (Abit IP-35 Pro MB would be great for a Q6600 setup).

Also if you go quad core with the Abit board, it supports Intel's new 45nm chips (so I'm told) for future upgrades.

I've seen a few people suggested going to Intel, I don't have any problem with it, as I'm not really a fanboy of either. It's just all I've ever used since my first build was AMD, so I'm more familiar with them.

I plan on running Vista Ultimate 64bit so the 4 gigs may be fine.

But like i said, when it comes to Intel, I have no idea what is "It" at the moment.

I'm not an expert in chip design or architecture, but I can tell you that right now Intel's product line appears to be quite a bit ahead of AMD's.

i'm loving my 5600+ so far. it's only 89W (as opposed to the 125W 6000+) so it stays good and cool. it compares to the intel e6550 (although not as much OC headroom) which is $175.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Intel has had the lead since the Core 2 was released like a year ago and they seem to hold the lead for the next line as well. I don't think that AMD is too bad if you're on a budget though. I don't really know the recommended intel chip at $145.

the E4300 is the closest one to $145 (why that number?) and it gets smoked.
